Frequently Asked Questions
Everyone learns at a different pace. However, research shows it takes an average of 100-150 hours of study to advance to the next level of a language.
Each level at EZ Fluency lasts for 12 weeks. During this time you will receive 48 hours of in-person instruction, about the same amount of homework assignments, and 11 hours of bonus conversation instruction. This gives you over 100 hours of study. If you feel you are not making enough progress, we can provide you with extra assignments that can help you work on your weak points.
Basic fluency is usually achieved by level B2. At this level students are comfortable speaking in most situations, though they may still make some mistakes.
Practice, practice, practice! Find out what skills are your weakest (such as listening or writing) and then work strategically to practice these skills. For example, if you can write well, but are scared to speak, participate regularly in a conversation class. If you can speak well, but do not understand when others speak to you, try listening to podcasts or watching movies in a foreign language. If you need to improve your vocabulary, write down a few useful words each day and practice them often.
Both the graded homework assignments and the tests offered during the course will help you see if you are doing well in the course.
About the course
All our books are from well-known publishing and education companies, such as Pearson Education, Oxford University Press, and Grupo Editorial Nacional.
Our English courses are based on American English.
Our Portuguese courses are based on Brazilian Portuguese.
Yes. When you successfully complete a level, achieving at least a 78% in your final grade, you will be awarded a certificate of completion. Your grade is based on faithful completion of homework, a midterm test, and a final test.
A language certificate is very useful! With a certificate, you are more likely to be hired for a job than other competitors that do not have a language certificate. However, most universities require you to take an additional language proficiency exam (such as IELTS, TOEFL or Celpe-Bras) to validate your language knowledge. Fortunately, our courses already help to prepare you for these exams by using material that follow the same standards! All you have to do is sign up to take one of the proficiency exams once you have completed our course.
